We didn't wait for permission.
IGDTUW Student Council is an independent student representative body.
An independent student advocacy initiative
We are not a club. We're not affiliated with the administration. We're a student-run body that collects concerns, builds democratic consensus around them, and formally represents them before the university.
Every email we send to the administration is published. Every response we receive is posted. Students should never have to wonder if something was actually done.
We're working towards formal university recognition with faculty advisory support and elected positions. Until then, we operate with the same rigour and transparency as any formally recognized body.
We have one of those. This is the infrastructure behind it — a formal record, a transparent process, a platform.
We're independent. We represent students before the administration — we're not part of it.
We raise issues, yes. But we also track resolutions, measure administration response rates, and publish outcomes.
How we got here
First Attempt
Batch 2028 tried to build a student council. Despite the effort, a lack of unity and sustained participation meant it couldn't be formally established. But we didn't stop working.
Curriculum Fight
Students raised concerns about hardware-heavy subjects in the CSE curriculum — IoT and Advanced IoT dominating a Computer Science degree. We sent formal representations to the HOD and Dean of Academics.
Rebuilding — Stronger
With 50+ seniors and 650+ students now united, we're formalizing the council. A faculty advisor, transparent governance, and a functioning platform. This time, it's built to last.
